Inayan System of Eskrima

The Inayan System of Eskrima (ISE) is called a system because it encompasses more than one style of the Eskrima arts. It has been developed to provide the student with the best all-around knowledge and skill to become an accomplished practitioner.

A style is a set of techniques that contain a viable and practical mode of defense against attacks and does not need to borrow from any other technology or method. These styles are also complete and effective against opposing methods and styles when applied properly, and if studied adequately.

Inayan Lineage: Mangisursuro Mike Inay

Mangisursuro Mike Inay developed Inayan Eskrima. Mangisursuro Inay devoted most of his adult life to the promotion, preservation, and propagation of the Filipino Martial Arts. Suro Inay studied privately under the tutelage of two great Eskrima Masters, Max Sarmiento and Angel Cabales.

Suro Inay has traveled abroad to conduct Inayan Eskrima seminars and clinics throughout the US, Canada, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, Canada and Australia. In addition to Inayan Eskrima and at the request of a large Midwest law enforcement organization, Mangisursuro Inay developed the first nationwide law enforcement knife defense program called "Spontaneous Knife Defense". Mangisursuro Inay began teaching law enforcement throughout the United States and became well known and respected in the law enforcement community.

Inayan Lineage: Suro Jason Inay

Suro Jason Inay started training at the age of six in 1979. He learned initially from the Guros under the founder of Inayan Eskrima, Mangisursuro Mike Inay. When Jason was 10 years old he trained, at the direction of his father, under his "Uncle" Master Jimmy Tacosa for a short time. He also had the fortune to train with his Uncle Remi Estrella, the first to achieve Guro ranking under Mike Inay.

In 1992, Jason began teaching classes shortly after being promoted to Katulungan Guro in the Inayan System of Eskrima. It was after this promotion that he began to receive training from his father.

After the sudden death of his father in 2000, Jason assumed the position of Suro as his father wanted. Jason is now the Head of Inayan Eskrima and is the foremost proponent of Inayan, whom Mangisursuro Mike Inay wanted to represent what is and what will be Inayan.
